The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland; Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, within 24 hours.
Jas Thind joint owner of The Laurels Nursing Home, Old London Road, Hastings, was determined to complete the challenge last week despite perilous conditions at Scafell Pike. The 2nd climb, Scafell Pike is technically the most difficult of the 3 where the descent is dangerous in the wet.
Compounded by 30-mile winds and heavy rainfall, Jas and his team completed the climb in darkness with the aid of headlamps. Jas said, “We were warned and YES we were nervous but we were determined to complete the challenge unless our guide pulled us off the mountain OR we were blown off by the high winds!”
Jas and his friend Sam Vedash finished the challenge within the 24hrs and have raised nearly £2000 between them for the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air ambulance, The charity exists to relieve sick and injured people in South East England and surrounding areas by providing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and Air Ambulance Service for the benefit of the community.
